The ancient clan of Ubakala, today, hosted in a town hall meeting, the duo of Chief Chuku Wachuku and Comrade Friday Chimaobi Ogbundiogu, the YPP Senatorial Candidate of Abia Central District and Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency Candidates respectively at the Ubakala Town Hall, Apumiri.
In a meeting which had Community Leaders, village heads, Traditional Prime Ministers, unit heads of town unions, heads of women groups and associations, heads of youth bodies and leaders of market and trade unions in attendance, the YPP candidates comprehensively drove home the YPP message of Restoration to leaders of the ancient clan of Ubakala.
Addressing the Change-compliant people of Ubakala, Chief Wachuku was categorical about his determination to deliver Family Economic Empowerment, not Keke Napep Empowerment, Good and Sustainable Jobs, not Rice (2cups) Wealth Creation, not gifts, and Transfer of Power to the Next Generation, while hinting that support for him is promotion of equity, fairness and justice among the two critical blocs of IKwuano/Umuahia and Umunneato Ngwa in Abia Central District.
He called on the leaders to support YPP candidates begining with the in-coming Governor of Abia State,Engr. Enyinnaya Chima Nwafor, himself for Senate ( Abia Central District) Comrade Ogbundiogu ( Ikwuano/Umuahia) and the party in general. The former Director-General of National Directorate of Employment urged them never to be deceived again by those who throw money around just to buy votes and forget them later, stating that such funds were originally meant for providing services to the people, but diverted for private gains.
The Royal Prince of Ngwa Land gave a comprehensive account of how Senate power has rotated among the two distinct blocs in Abia Central District, which justifiably favours Isiala Ngwa North LGA in 2023. He encouraged them to place competence, credibility and equity above selfish and inordinate quest for power. It was established that anybody contesting for the Senate Seat of Abia Central District from Isiala Ngwa South, Osisioma Ngwa LGA, or Ikwuano/Umuahia is being motivated by greed and over-ambitiousness.
In his own speech, the YPP Candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency who is an Ubakala Son of the soil, harped on how Umuahia South has been marginalized since 1999, pointing out that the LGA has never been given the chance to elect their own into the green chamber. As the only son of Umuahia South LGA running for the position across party lines, he beckoned on his people to give him the needed support to rewrite the narrative.
Continuing, he promised to attract and build an utra-modern cancer cure facility for Ndi Ubakala when elected. He decried the poor state of infrastructure in the zone, despite being part of the state capital.
Responding, the Vice President of Ubakala Clan, Mr. Charles Ngwakwe, who represented the President General welcomed the YPP Candidates and their team, while describing the 2023 election as candidate-based. Chief Uwaoma Ndukauba, the Secretary General of the Ubakala Clan Union, who wished the candidates well at the poll, expressed confidence that the YPP candidates will not forsake Ubakala when they are voted into power. The two leaders of Ubakala, on behalf of others, assured their visitors that Ubakala people will do the needful based on competence, fairness, justice and equity.
