The Umuahia North Council of Traditional Rulers council of Abia state has denied sending any person or group of persons to say or promise anything on behalf of its body on the issue of zoning of Governorship position in Abia come 2023 and therefore dissociated the council completely from a recent visit by few traditional Rulers to Abia government house and their decision concerning 2023
Addressing the Newsmen,the chairman HRH Eze John Onyebuchi Ibezim,the Ugwu I of Amuzukwu Ibeku who disclosed this during a press briefing at his palace in Amuzukwu Ibeku Umuahia, said the council did not send any body or group to speak on its behalf and therefore dissociated itself from the decision of few traditional rulers who said that Ngwa people should produce the next Governor of Abia state in 2023 .
According to him , ” we want you to tell the nation that the Traditional Rulers of Umuahia North did not and will not tell the political class how they should organise their political activities in terms of who takes what; that is left for the political parties and we do not have that right to enter into such dialogue.
” It is unfortunate that some people who rarely rightly belong to this local government,went to far in saying what they said in recent times.
” To be concise one thing they said that it is the turn and should remain the turn of Ngwa to produce next Governor come 2023 and that they do not believe in the present pattern of Zoning,whereas at the same time,they told the Governor that it is the turn of Ohuhu to produce the next House of Representative member. It shows that they are confused.
” We are here to tell Nigerians and Ndi Abia that Umuahia North Traditional Rulers council is not involved in that utterance and we will never be “
The council urged government to follow a regular pattern which can be predicted for the interest of peace in the state.
In the same vein the chairman Traditional Rulers Council of Ibeku ,HRH Eze Iheanyichukwu Ezeigbo, said it is the duty of the traditional Rulers to give their blessings to whoever that emerges as a holder of any political office.
” Anybody going contrary to this to make pronouncement is doing so for his own interest .
” We will never direct any traditional Ruler to go on our behalf and make any speech .
” We are not politicians and have not directed anybody”
In his speech, ” His Royal Kingship Gidi and Oba ,Eze Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna.Oba the great of Ekeoba kingdom said the essence of the press briefing is to dissociate themselves from what the few Traditional Rulers did. The show of shame done by a few Traditional Rulers, seven of them and has been refuted from those of us from Ohuhu because it is not our decision and those who did it did that for their personal interest”
Other traditional Rulers who were present include HRH Eze Benson Ugochukwu, Akabuike Agu Egwu Uga II Egwu na Eleke Okaiuga -Nkwo Egwu Autonomous Community, HRM Eze Sir Donatus Aguiyi, Offor Ndu I I of Ndume Ibeku and HRH Eze Eddy Ibeabuchi, Okwu of Okwulaga and Egwu Ukwu of Afara Ukwu Ibeku all collaborated the position of the chairman and said ” we are not politicians and do not have political party and we can not support any political party , except government in power led by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.We are happy with what our chairman has done and said in this press briefing”
