The Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has been conferred with The Best Deputy Governor Award for his unwavering loyalty and selflessness in service by the Abia Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria.
Speaking after receiving his award during the special Award conferment and Annual General Meeting of Abia Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) held at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia commended them for the wonderful job they are doing in sensitizing and educating the public through their well researched reportage.
The Deputy Governor represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Obasi Okibeh Onwukah reaffirmed his continued partnership with the Online Media Practitioners and noted that the award conferred on him will challenge him to continue to do his best and live up to expectations while wishing them a very successful AGM.
Also speaking after receiving the Best Humanitarian Service Award, the wife of the Governor, Dr Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Chika Ojiegbe appreciated members of OMPAN for the honour done her and promised not to relent in giving hope to the helpless and indigent in society.
In his remarks, the member representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Chief T A Orji who spoke through Sir Frank Ibeh said he is humbled by the double honour of Lifetime Achiever and Best Lawmaker Of 2022 Awards conferred on him by OMPAN and promised to sustain their contributions to Nation building and impacting on people’s lives.
Similarly, the Chairman Abia Warriors, Pastor Emeka Inyama and the immediate past Chairman of Umunneochi LGA, Chief Ifeanyi Madu who were honoured with the Best Sports Administrator and Best Local Govt Chairman of the Year Awards in recognition of their unique leadership qualities thanked OMPAN for finding them fit for the recognition which will spur them to deliver more to society.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman on the occasion, Chief Chinenye Nwogu appreciated OMPAN for the able way they have been helping in information dissemination to the public and urged members to endeavour to verify information they dish out to the public to avoid causing harm in the polity.
In their vote of thanks, the Chairman of Abia Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Mr Paddy Anyatonwu said the event afforded them the opportunity to brainstorm and take stock of their activities and honour personalities that distinguished themselves in their various careers.
The event which featured presentation of Awards to deserving personalities including Elder Erondu U Erondu Jnr, who was conferred with the Best Public Service Award among others attracted the presence of Top Govt Officials, Media Practitioners and many notable personalities.
