The Abia commissioner for information ,chief John Okiyi Kalu has assured Ndi Abia that under the watch of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu that Abia is making progress in the right direction and there is hope .
He acknowledged that Abia state is not where Abians want it to be ,but Abia has made tremendous progress in the areas of education, security , entrepreneur among others.
Addressing Newsmen shortly after the church thanksgiving service held at Seventh Day Adventist Church Aguiyi Ironsi Layout Umuahia to mark Abia 30 anniversary celebration, he said Abians decided to thank God for seeing the state through the 30 years , recalling that last year Abia state lost a couple of prominent Abians to covid-19 pandemic and in 2009 and 2010 ,the State was totally deserted because of security challenges,but today alot of things have changed.
Continuing , he informed that at present Abia is the most peaceful state and that Governor Ikpeazu has repositioned the state as the number one in education in Nigeria.
In his words , ” Our message is hope ,we are not where we used to be ,but we are not yet where we want to be .
” Abia is kinetic ,we are making progress in the right direction,but our message remains that of hope and gratitude to God for seeing us through this 30 years .
” It could have been worst on all sides ,last year we lost a couple of prominent Abians to covid-19 pandemic.
” In 2009 and 2010, Abia was totally deserted,no form of development could take place under that condition ,that is why when people talk of abandonment of Aba , I say to them ,they do not know history.
” So we are grateful people and happy people ,the state is the most peaceful state .
” If there is no other way we have done well ,we have done well in repositioning this state as the number one state in education in Nigeria.
” Our future is greater than that of others , because we are number one in education,so there is hope
Our narratives have changed positively whether in terms of entrepreneur or infrastructural development .
” So there is hope because we have peace ,there is hope because our people are prospering , even more than before, our entrepreneurs in Aba are doing very well and we have confidence that God will ensure the rest that concerns us “
Speaking further, he maintained that under the watch of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, that Abians are already getting better lives and should expect more better lives, adding that most importantly Abia state will never loose God as the Governor Ikpeazu has assured Abians.
