The Abia state President of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary schools (ANCORPSS), Comrade Mazi, Boniface A. Kalu ,has called on Principals of Secondary schools in Nigeria to avoid vices such as illegal collections from their students and examination malpractice and all other vices capable of painting their profession black.
Mazi Kalu, who made the call, during the SouthEast zone of ANCORPSS, 2019 Mandatory Continuing Professional Training, held at the Bishop Nwedo conference hall, Umuahia, Abia state, with the theme, ” Effects of Social Media On Students Academic Performance ” said the essence of the conference is to update and acquaint the principals of schools on the world ‘s best principles ,new ideas and practices in the education sector.
He called on their members to be innovative, proactive, adroit, dedicated and undaunted in their quest for a better academic world for the teeming youths.
He lauded the Governor of Abia state, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu ,said since his coming on board, Abia state has maintained First position in WASSCE examination for four years back to back, while requesting that Abia state ANCORPSS needs vehicles to enable them carry out their various responsibilities and allocation of a parcel of land for their State secretariat.
In her speech, the Anambra State ANCORPSS President, Lady Atichukwu Tina, described the training as enriching, said it is an opportunity to improve on their profession.
She lamented, that in Nigeria as a whole, teachers are not recognized ,saying it is high time, the society and the country recognized teachers for their important contributions to nation building.
Lady Atichukwu, applauded the Anambra state governor for taking special care of teachers, especially in the area of their welfare. “we are paid before the month ends, as at when due.
Other Southeast states should emulate Anambra state ” she said.
In his speech, the President Ebony State ANCORPSS, Mr Ovuoba Donatus, pointed out that the welfares of teachers in the whole nation are neglected and the situation is affecting the academic performance of the students.
He called on, the federal government to improve teachers salary scale ,instead of giving so much attention to the political class.
Earlier on ,the Chairman of SouthEast zone of ANCORPSS, Chief comrade Livinus Ezeah, commended Abians for their hospitality, noted that since they arrived Abia State, they have been enjoying themselves.
He pointed out that the issue of examination malpractice among secondary schools ,is given them, so much concern, hence all hands must be on deck to remedy the ugly situation.
Chief Ezeah ,said they are training the principals of different schools to enable them, go home and train their teachers and students,adding that ANCORPSS is leading a fight against examination malpractice. ” we are going to also involve parents in the fight “
