The immediate past chairman Umuahia North Council of traditional Rulers and traditional ruler of Oriendu autonomous community in Umuahia North LGA of Abia state,HRM Eze pastor Ambassador Philip Ajomiwe has accused His Eminence Dr S C K Uche of insulting and slighting Ndi Eze and the traditional institution.
Eze Ajomiwe who disclosed this to Newsmen at Umuekwule Afugiri Umuahia,shortly after the burial church service in honour of the late HRH Eze Sir G.C Adiele, described as shocking and unimaginable that the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria should insult all the Ezes in Abia state and beyond,adding that it is uncalled for.
In his words, ” We the traditional rulers from Ohuhu,Ibeku , Ikwuano and so many other traditional Rulers from Abia state, even outside Abia state came for this burial because he is our beloved Eze and colleague.
” It is shocking , unbelievable, unimaginable that a whole Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria insulted us.
” The Scripture in the book of the Romans ,says we should respect those in Authorities and priesthood is under the Kingship .
” God gave different gifts to different individuals to be a pastor ,preacher ,etc and yet God says we should respect those in Authorities .
” The Prelate has no respect for us and he has shot gun in his legs by insulting the traditional institution in the whole of Nigeria by saying that the dress of a Knight and cap is superior to that of the Eze .
” It is an Insult ,it is uncalled for. It is unimaginable for the Prelate to say that .If it is Bishop Opoko or Tasie they can not say that kind of thing the Prelate said.
” You can see the reactions of the traditional Rulers,if not that some prominent sons of Ohuhu and Abia came and pleaded with us ,we wanted to walk away.
” We have a tradition we must perform,we are Christians too.
Continuing , he queried who is a Christian ? It is Christ like .This his attitude is it Christ like ?
” He even went further and said that he made an Ohuhu man a bishop and yet we did not appreciate him .
” What about those who made him a bishop and Prelate,some people made him what he is today”
He therefore pointed out that the traditional Rulers are demanding apology from the Prelate if not that they will not take it lightly with him.
” He does not have respect for traditional institution,if he does not quickly write officially to apologise to us ,we will not take it lightly with him.
” Why is he condemning others , how can a traditional Ruler takes order from the Bishop before he performs the rites of Iwa oji ( sharing of kola nut) .The Prelate has really missed it and he must apologize” he said
