The Nigeria Union of Journalists National President Comrade Chris Isiguzo has been re-elected for second tenure for a period of three years .

Announcing the results the deputy national president, Nigeria labour Congress ,comrade Joe Ajaero , said” Isiguzo from C in the South East ,polled 665 votes to win his opponent Yusuf Idris from Kadunna North West in zone A,who scored 15 votes during the NUJ 7th Triennial delegates conference Umuahia 2021 ,held at Michael Okpara auditorium with the theme ,” The Role of the Media in Times of National Renewal’

Addressing the crowd after , Barrister Dogwo Akasco administered the oath of office,the newly re-elected president of NUJ , Chris Isiguzo expressed appreciation to members of the union for the confidence reposed on him , while soliciting for their maximum support to take the council to the next level.

He however assured that the new executive members will not disappoint the union , even as he described the second Mandate given to them as a ‘ vote of confidence’

He promised to do better in his second administration , adding that he would soon reel out his plans and agenda on what to achieve, saying that they will be more committed and diligent in carry out the responsibilities.

It could be recalled that journalists across Nigeria gathered in Umuahia ,the Abia state capital for their 7th Triennial National Delegates conference ,2021 after series of court orders .
Speaking during his opening remark at Michael Okpara auditorium Umuahia, the national president of NUJ had commended members of the union for the decision to attend the national Delegates conference in Umuahia, and thank God that the court order obtained at Ibadan by some union members in Ogun state division of the National Industrial court of Nigeria suspending the 7th Triennial delegates conference was vacated by the court in Ibadan.
