It was joy and uncontrollable excitement shown by the Students of Standard International Secondary Schools Umuahia as the management announced for recognition the names of the school functionaries that will pilot the affairs of the college for the next academic session.
Standard International Secondary Schools which situates at
No 50 Warri Street, by Enugu road,Umuahia also used the twin occasion to reward hard working students with awards of honour.
On Thursday,19th day of October,2023, during the morning devotion,the school management took the students by surprise when it decided to reward outstanding contributions towards the growth of the school as well as appointing the Senior Prefects that would assist the school maintain academic excellence, discipline and morals , spiritual armament among the students especially given the competitive nature of the Industry among private and public Secondary Schools in the state.
As the Vice Principal of the schools,Rev Stephen was calling out the names of the functionaries and those nominated for outstanding performances,the school hall was electrified with happiness and songs of solidarity in salute of the victorious students as they came out for recognition and decoration.

Speaking earlier during the swearing in ceremony,the Proprietor/ Principal of Standard International Secondary Schools, Umuahia,Chief Dr Smart O Nwokorie commended them for being role models of the college and urge them to continue to keep the flag flying high in order to maintain the pedigree the school is noted for in the comity of schools in the State.
He added that there is need to maintain discipline, cleanliness,inculcate the right moral,promote spiritualism in the students body,hence the need to appoint Senior Prefects of the schools as well as those who excelled through academic, punctuality, cleanliness, etc adding that this recognition and awards of honour will spur them to do more and also motivate others to more hard in order to be nominated next year.

He also charged on the new school functionaries to be conscious of enormous responsibility bestowed upon their shoulders and that they should continue to present themselves as the role models of the college.
Meanwhile, the Vice Principal,Rev Stephen and others teachers assisted the Principal in decorating students even as the students sang songs of praises to the school for honouring the best among equals.

The climax of the brief ceremony was when the school management administered oath of office and oath of allegiance to the Senior Prefect, Master Chinweze Kaodilichukwu Kizito including Eleven other Prefects such as: General class monitor – Zack O. Clinton, Sanitary prefect – Ogbuehi J. Angel,. Sanitary prefect 1 – Nlewechi M precious,
Sanitary prefect 2 – Emmanuel I. Goodness, Chapel Prefect – Emmanuel C. David
Others are :Assistant Chapel Prefect – Nnamdi O. Queen Esther ,
Time regulator – Orji K. Chijindu,
Assistant time Regulator – Obi M. Favour, Utility prefect – John O. Emmanuel, Assistant utility prefect – Odeghe E. Marvelous respectively.
As for the Students Awardees in SS3, the following emerged victorious: Chinweze K. kizito – Leadership,
Okocha Emenike Samuel – Creativity, . Emmanuel Chimaobi David – Over all first,
Whereas Nnachi Jonathan Ukachukwu was honoured for Punctuality,with Ogbuehi Ijeoma Angel emerged as the Neatest student, Nnamdi Ọlaedochi Queen Esther was also honoured as the – best Chapel Prefect accordingly.
Meanwhile,the Proprietor/ Principal of Standard International Secondary Schools, Umuahia,Chief Dr Smart O Nwokorie tasked the newly appointed Senior Prefects of the school on the need to exhibit the confidence reposed on them and urge them to continue to be good ambassadors of Standard International Secondary School in all ramifications in or out of school within the year under review.
He also extolled the awardees for their outstanding performance which singled them out for recognition amongst other students, while expressing optimism that next time may be turn of others .
