The Secretary to Abia State Government, Barrister Chris Ezem has lauded PDP Umuahia South local government for the level of unity ,they exhibited in the conduct of the chairmanship primary election.
He described Umuahia south local government as a place where stakeholders are together and organized and will ensure that things are properly done the normal way .
According to him , ” I can assure you that there is no local government in Abia that you will go to and see the arrangement we have here today ; where all the delegates sat in one canopy ,properly organized and if you see our accreditation, the hall was not crowded ,but was well -arranged with all the aspirants seated properly and you can see the way we call the delegates into the hall. The voting was done transparently ,No interference, we provided security enough in the environment and you can see that the aspirants after the result ,left happily,because we have continuously and consistently canvas that it is not a do or die affairs, one person must emerge ” he said.
He maintained ,that the duty of the party leaders and stakeholders in the local government is to ensure that the process is peaceful, not interfered with and transparent “
Barrister Ezem said, ” For us in Umuahia south local government, we are happy that the conduct of this primary election has been peaceful, without rancor ,next coming days ,we will start campaigning and canvassing for our candidate for the general election”
Addressing Newsmen, the TC Chairman Umuahia south, Hon.Dr Adindu Ndukwe ,expressed happiness over the peaceful conduct of the chairmanship primary election.
In his words ,” I feel elated as every other person that person that witness the primary exercise .I want to make bold to say that Umuahia south has always been a pacesetter local government .This is one Local government where you have the timber and calibers of our modern time .Myself is also a very professional politician, I need to commend myself .It is not easy .This is something that I acquired via experience and which I have been able to exhibit.
He described the election as very peaceful and that shortly after the winner emerged, those who apparently lost ,hugged each other and that is the spirit and by tomorrow, we are following it up to visit every aspirant that lost in his own home “
Interacting with newsmen shortly after emerging the winner, Hon .Dr .Humphrey Chukwudi Benson ,praised God for making it possible.
According to him, ” I am going to work together with others .We are like one family. PDP is one family, I won ,but all of us won the election “
He said , ” I am on ground ,what I did in this primary election, I will repeat in the general election “
Announcing the result, the electoral officer in charge of Umuahia south local government, Barrister Ikechukwu Augustine Omereihe ,described the election as fantastic, very free and fair and one of the best election .
He pointed out that PDP has fulfilled their promise ,because every was transparent.
According to him, Hon.Dr Humphrey Chukwudi Benson pulled a total of 155 votes to emerge the winner of this primary election.
