Pursue Economic Development Ikpeazu Tells New LG Chairmen

PURSUE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN YOUR AREAS

       The Abia state Governor Dr  Okezie Ikpeazu has tasked the  newly elected local government chairmen and their deputies to pursue economic development in their localities

The Governor who gave the task during ththeir inauguration ceremony held at Michael Okpara Auditorium Umuahia urged them to carry out strategic thinking that would bring about economic development of their areas and a better life for their people.

He stressed the need for them to jump-start economic development by seeking to leverage on those economic indices where they enjoy relative comparative advantage

He further urged them to see the opportunity as a platform to contribute to the political and economic development of their areas, and tasked them to seize the opportunity.

According to the Governor, ” there is no one era or political regime that is exactly the same hence the need for them to think out of the box on new imperatives of development”

Governor Ikpeazu challenged them to do a sober reflection as the task ahead was arduous and challenging,while urging them to abridge their celebration and realize that their election is a call to duty as the expectations of people on them are very high.

Speaking further ,he enjoined them to address the issue of security squarely as well as to look at various projects already in place in their localities with a view to making them flourish.

Responding on behalf of the other Chairmen, the Executive Chairman Obingwa LGA, Hon. Ibe Nwoke said that their election is a privilege for them to continue with the Governor’s vision and reassured that they will remain focused in helping the Governor realize his goals.

According to him ,” we will step on the ladder and remain focus to help the Governor to actualize his visions and goals for the State “

The Oath of Office was administered on the Chairmen and their Deputies by the Solicitor General of the State, Barr. Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne.

Speaking to Newsmen the Executive chairman Ukwa West Hon.Okey KANU disclosed that he has some development projects adding that ” I am planning to do many projects , with in 3 months we will start off ” he said
