The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Amy Mother and Child Care Foundation Mrs Amarachi Mbanaso has called on government at levels to close the care gap in the fight against cancer by doing the necessary things such as provision of free cancer screening and other facilities for diagnosis
Mrs Mbanaso who made this call during the 2022 world cancer Day awareness campaign with the theme ,’Close The Care Gap ‘held in Umuahia Abia state capital , revealed that cancer as a deadly disease can easily spread and become uncontrollable .
She pointed out that her Foundation embarked on the awareness campaign to sensitize people about the dieases , its dangers and the need to prevent it.
She insisted that there are lots of lapses in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer,hence government at all levels need to arise to their responsibilities by provision of facilities needed for diagnosis and taking care of those who are suffering from cancer.
Early on her speech ,one of the outreach coordinators Dr Mrs Amuzie Chidinma listed some of the ways of preventing cancer and urged people to eat alot of vegetables and fruits, maintain healthy body weight, increase intake of water , limit consumption of alcohol, protect themselves from sun rays ,get vaccinated against hepatitis B ,among other things.
Dr Amuzie a Public health physician advised those who are already suffering from cancer to be positive and optimistic, always take their drugs and medication as well as trust in God adding that cancer is never a death -sentence
