Nnamdi Kanu, family member meet first time in DSS custody

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra Nnamdi Kanu on Monday met with a member of his family for the first time since his detention by the Department of State Services.

The IPOB’s leader’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, made this known in a Facebook

He noted that Nnamdi Kanu met with his sibling, Prince Emmanuel, in the DSS custody, attaching a picture photo with Prince Kanu to the Facebook post.

The post read, “We just concluded today’s routine visit on a very sound note. What made today’s visit unique is that today marks it the first Day Our Client -Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is setting his eyes on his sibling.

“In my company during the Family’s maiden visit to Our Client is Prince Emmanuel Kanu (Fine Boy), the Representative of Our Client’s family.

“Our Client- Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is very strong in spirit. You will hear the rest from Prince Emmanuel Kanu.

“Our Client- Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was visibly shocked by the unwarranted embarrassment, insults and criticism meted out to his Lawyers by those who should know better. The discipline he emphasised is the watchword, which is apparently lacking today.

“If at this point in time people who deliberately choose to be mischief-makers, are throwing accusations and insults on his Solicitors, he wonders when they will learn.

The trial of Kanu, 53, resumed last month in Abuja where he faces terrorism and treasonable felony charges among others.

His family and lawyers say he was illegally arrested in June while in Kenya, tortured, and flown back to Nigeria.

Another activist, Sunday Igboho, who advocates for Yoruba Nation, was arrested last month at the airport in Benin Republic.

Igboho had been on the run after a gun battle with security forces that killed two of his men, and after weapons and ammunition were reportedly discovered at his home
