The Catholic men Organization of St Joseph the worker Society of Holy Cross Catholic church Ahiukwu Olokoro community in Umuahia South local government Area of Abia state has during their 2021 Christian fathers’ Day conferred an award of honour on the Nigeria Medical Association Abia chairman , Dr Chimezie Okwuonu in recognition of his Christian faith and contributions to service to humanity .
Speaking shortly after receiving the unique father award at Holy Cross Catholic church Ahiukwu Olokoro ,the NMA Abia chairman expressed great delight on the award of honour from the church, saying as a father of 4 children who is currently raising children in the fear of the Lord ,” I am aware of the challenges this involves,especially in the world we live in .
” St Joseph lived a good life on earth .His contributions to the Christian faith can not be over emphasized” he said.
He said the event creates “an opportunity for us to make sober reflections on our lives and what we shall be remembered for by our families and the society at large”,while noting that the ,” question is very apt and will assist us in making a positive impact in our society ” he insisted.
Speaking further, he used the opportunity to call on the youths in Olokoro communities and Abia state , to stay away from lifestyle that can endanger their lives.
He however ,called on the youths “to come together in soundness of mind to build a society where godliness is enthroned ,discipline is enforced and security of lives and properties assured”
He used the opportunity to congratulate all the autonomous communities in Olokoro that have set up a vigilante group,describing that as a right step towards building a network of community security .
Presenting the award to Dr Chimezie Okwuonu, the president of the Catholic Men Organization Holy Cross church Ahiukwu Olokoro, Mr Linus Ikwulegbu ,said the Catholic Men decided to give Dr Chimezie Okwuonu a unique father award in recognition and appreciation of his immense contributions and services to the church and humanity.
Earlier in his homily ,the parish priest ,Monsignor Augustine Kanu ,admonished the men to emulate their patron Saint Joseph ,saying if they do so ,the ills in the society will be reduced and “we shall have the community and nation that we all desire to have”
He further charged them to be meaningfully engaged in the society so as to enable them sustain their homes after marriage.
The occasion was graced by prominent sons and daughters of the Olokoro communities, including the President General of Olokoro Clan Development Union ,Mr Dike Nzenwa and host of other dignitaries
