The wife of Abia state Governor, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu has challenged the Abia state Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) chapter of Abia Women Public Servants Association to give attention to areas that would have a greater impact on their performance in and out of their workplace.
Mrs Ikpeazu, who was represented by her Special Adviser on women Affairs, Mrs Nma Odikwa, at the inauguration of the ASOPADEC chapter of Abia Women Public Servants Association and the launching for the purchase of the Association ‘s coaster bus, held at ASOPADEC office complex Winners’ chapel way government station layout Ogurube ,Umuahia, urged the women to work with the management of ASOPADEC to set up a baby -friendly corner, so that mothers around can have a sense of belonging.
Speaking further, she encouraged them to sustain a thrift and loan scheme, as it can be very valuable in filing the gaps in this period of economic downturn.
She expressed solidarity with the executives of the ASOPADEC ladies Association, the state executives of the women public Servants Association, saying women associations have become veritable groups for encouraging self-development, and for meeting the mutual aspirations of the MDA’s ,while supporting the government to meet specific assignments.
Addressing the Newsmen, the chairman of ASOPADEC, chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu ,described women as very important in every sphere of life and are primarily the pillar and foundation of every establishment .
He commended the ASOPADEC women for coming to work on time and discharging their various duties in ASOPADEC commission ,while charging them to represent and be true Ambassadors of ASOPADEC in the Abia Women Public Servants Association.
He applauded the wife of the governor for being part of the inauguration, while promising that ASOPADEC as a body, will provide their women wing with a coaster as they requested.
He however, thanked the women for the award given to him as the ‘Silent Achiever ‘ saying ” For all I have achieved, is God, without God, I can not achieve them. He has helped me “
In his opening remark, the chairman of the occasion, Hon.Chief PC Onyegbu , urged women to pray for the growth of the state and the society, noting that if the society is bad, the women will be blamed and if it good it is them,even as he urged them to make their homes comfortable for their husbands.
In her speech, the state co-ordinator Abia state Women public servants Association, chief Mrs Charity N. Ukonu ,commended the ASOPADEC women for their inauguration into the state body,saying the Women public Servants Association is not a political organization rather a body that ensure that women discharge their duties effectively and to ensure that women are given equal opportunities with men by the government.
Earlier in her speech, the chairperson of the ASOPADEC Women Association, Mrs Anyadighibe N. Cynthia ,said for more than nine years now, it is the grace of God that help them to be united family in ASOPADEC ,especially the ladies who she said had shown commitment and doggedness to all overall development of the commission.
She commended the ASOPADEC women for their decision and vision to be part and parcel of the umbrella body of Abia Women Public Servants Association, in collaboration with the State ministry of women Affairs and Social development,even as she expressed their joy to their ASOPADEC chairman and the entire Board members for giving them the opportunity to join the Abia women public servants Association.
