Mrs Ikpeazu charges ASUBEB and Teachers To Monitor Activities In Schools

The wife of the governor of Abia State Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu has called on the stake holders and regulators in Education sector to apply stringent measures while supervising schools especially private ones.
The wife of the governor made the call while declaring open the 3 days seminer organised by the Abia State Universal Basic Education Board ASUBEB for the primary school head teachers, with the theme Basic School System thinking and remodelling in the 21st century.
She said that this gathering was made possible because the governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has shown astitute leadership in constituting a committee on de articulation of schools and upgrading of our schools which includes construction of school blocks, provision of furniture’s and construction of fences to protect our children in addition to the school feeding programs which has increased school enrolment in public schools in the state.
Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu stated her worry on the physical development of the children in private schools according to her 98% of private schools do not have recreation or sports facilities noting that this will affect the mental and physical development of our children in the future.
She therefore called on the regulators in education sector to apply stringent measures while supervising schools especially private schools.
In his opening speech the chairman Abia State Universal Basic Education Board ASUBEB Elder Josiah Okechukwu Anonaba explained that the purpose of the seminer is to train the head teachers on how they can manage the linkage issues of various components that operate in the education sector.
According to him also to bring them together to get acquainted with each other, to have a first hand knowledge of their leader in ASUBEB and to confirm their followership.
He described the seminer as a leadership training targed System thinking because of the efficiency they want to inculcate in the system.
The chairman stressed that they intend to raise best teachers in Abia State who know their subjects extremely very well, create natural critical learning environment for our children, help students responses with questions and support learners who try and fail to receive feed back to try again.
Elder Anonaba thanked the governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for injecting more funds in the primary education sector, construction of more classroom blocks and equipment of school and called on head teachers to be concencious leaders so that they can achieve their aim in their work place.
In his message earlier Pastor Dr Rowland Nwosu of Babcock University Illeshan Reno Ogun State said that the school corricolum must include the Restoration of the child.
He called on teachers to try to catch the children when they are young stressing that they should be brought back to the fear of God so that they can be responsible citizens of the country.
According to him the child you refuse to train today will turn back to trouble us tomorrow.
