The Governor of Abia state Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has been commended for his prompt intervention on the issues of Abia state emblem enforcement and to forstore the criminal act of some of the operators in the state .
The President of Forum of Mobile advert practitioners of Nigeria Otunba Mike Osimen Eboeziegbe who visited the Governor of Abia state in the company of the Executive Director chief Richard Obeto,the Director General Andrew Oare ,the Abia state forum members led by Mrs Uju Azubuike and the Ebony Coordinator chief Afudike ,made this known during a press briefing held at the headquarters of Abia Board of Internal Revenue Ogurube layout Umuahia also commended the ABir chairman,Mr Celestine Agbara and the state General consultant Sir Mac Atasie for their intervention too.
He pointed out that the intervention of Governor and subsequent termination of the contract of Mr Azubuike Erondu, “Gladdens our hearts as members nationwide and members of the general public can expect human and lawful treatment on Abia roads”
He frowned at ill-treatment melted out on their members by a former revenue contractor named Mr Azubuike Erondu Ihuoma, alleged that he muscled and intimidated their members into paying for all sort of revenue and emblems of Abia state Government directly to him.
“We also confirm that Mr Azubuike Erondu aka mopol of Zubics ventures collected for each vehicle starting from 35 thousand naira only and above as against N5500 set by the Abia state Government as tariff for the Abia state Government emblem.
” He also severely detained vehicles crossing Abia state for days leading to major losses to the owners of the goods and several of our members paid about 200 thousand naira to release a truck from his detention yard”
He said with the former revenue contractor exit ,they expect that Aspims charges will be as specified by the ABIR and in accordance with the laws of the land .
” On our part we will ensure our members and customers buy only genuine Abia state emblem as will henceforth train our workforce to use the novel Abia enforcement app.
” We sincerely commend the Abia state Government for their tools which have the potential to improve collections and the convenience of the taxpayer on our roads” he said
