Celebration galore in Elu Elu Old Umuahia
The 2023 New Yam festival (Iri ji ) in Elu Elu Old Umuahia was indeed more than new yam festival. It was also used to replace the late ‘Nze’ of the community.
It was great to behold stakeholders in the community who reside in different places come together under one canopy to thank God Almighty for the 2023 bountiful harvest.
So ,it was a fun and happiness galore as the elated traditional ruler of the community,HRM Eze Dr John Onuzuruike,the Amara III of Elu Elu Old Umuahia in Umuahia South LGA ,Abia State, sitting together with some prominent sons and daughters of the community to thank God for His blessings to them.
Addressing the gathering at the ceremony,HRM Eze Onuzuruike, expressed happiness at the turn of events in Elu Elu Old Umuahia and said he was not expecting the crowd that gathered for the 2023 new yam festival.
Eze Onuzuruike expressed gratitude to God for blessing his people and for the developments bring witnessed in the community.
According to the Monarch,” Today,we celebrated our New yam festival. We also use the opportunity to replace our late Nze III with new Nze Senior Apostle Gabriel Akonuche Emezi.
“Again our brother from Nkporo Hon Noble Ngele was given a chieftaincy title as he has been residing in our community.
” I am very happy and our people are also very grateful to Almighty God for His love to our people. We give God the glory”
Speaking on the new government in Abia State,Dr Onuzuruike said,” So far people are happy and in the next four years,we are optimistic that things will become better. Every body is hopeful and happy and you know government is a continuum”
In his speech shortly after being coronated as Nze to replace the late Nze III, Senior Apostle Gabriel Akonuche Emezi thanked HRM Eze Onuzuruike and the people of Elu Elu Old Umuahia for finding him worthy to serve and Promised not to fail them.
In his own speech, Hon.Noble Ngele Awam who was given a chieftaincy title of Enyi ka Nwanne I of Elu Elu Old Umuahia, thanked the Eze and his cabinet for the honour done to him, said it would spur him into action.
