The Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku women progressive Union (AIWPU) Umuahia has celebrated the 2022 August conference and traditional retirement of Dibugwu and Dinewere age grade with a call for women to be of good behavior.
The ceremony which held at Union primary school Afaraukwu Ibeku,was graced by sons and daughters of Afaraukwu Ibeku as well as Residents of the community.
In her speech, the president of the Isiama Afaraukwu women, Ugwudiya KC Ofor said the women used the opportunity to celebrate the women who are old enough to go and relax without paying dues in the community any longer and “we thank God for keeping them till old age and pray that we reach like them”
She said the ceremony also offered them opportunity to recognize some individuals who have been contributing to the development of the community as well as raised funds.
” We want to build hostel for the children that is why we are raising fund”
She thanked the women for their support and cooperation.
In her speech, the chairperson planning committee of the event and treasurer Isiama Afaraukwu women wing,Mrs Blessing Anosike expressed happiness over the success of the event.
” The secret behind the success of this event is God and good Coordination .
” We planned ahead of time and that was why we succeeded ,God answered our prayers”
Commenting on the expectations after the ceremony, “Afaraukwu Ibeku people should expect peace between Afaraukwu and Isiama.
” We have asked God for peace,they should also expect good characters among the women,we have counselled ourselves on how to be of good behavior”
Speaking further,she said Afaraukwu Ibeku people should expect good things in the land ,”The money we realized today will be used to rehabilitate a lot of things in Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku”
