Abia State Pensioners have appealed to the Governor of Abia state,Dr Okezie Ikpeazu to intervene and help them get their accumulated pensions and gratuities .
The Coordinator of Concerned Abia State Pensioners chief Emeka Okezie
Said,” We just decided to come out because it has taken long and there are many unpaid monthly pensions.
” We have come out to plead with Government of Abia state to please help us we are dying in great number.
” The annoying part is the slashing of the little stipends into 3 and again it is not regular.
” The whole of 2018 that 12 months,no payment,2019 no payment,then 2020,they paid, the whole of 2021 they paid for only 3 months and the rest no payment and 2022 ,they have been dropping peanut to us .
” So that is the reason we decided to come out to plead with the Governor to intervene and help us”
In the same vein ,a retired Director,Elder Kalu Irobinso lamented over the slashing of their pensions .
His words,” my pension has been slashed from 150,000 Naira as a director to 55000 Naira and since last year August,I have not received anything.
“I have family members,I am taking care of.
” My children are in school and I can not pay their school fees.
” Let the Government pay us our pensions,let it be full and regular”
