Ikpeazu Presents Staff Of Office To 29 Ezes -Elect * Charges Them To Ensure Peaceful Coexistence In Their Communities

IKPEAZU PRESENTS STAFF OF OFFICE TO 29 EZES-ELECT WITH A CHARGE TO MAINTAIN PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE IN THEIR COMMUNITIES

The Abia state Governor ,Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has presented staff of office to the Twenty-nine Ezes-elect in Abia State as traditional rulers of their various Autonomous Communities

Addressing the Ezes -Elect , at Micheal Okpara Auditorium Umuahia ,shortly after presenting them with the staff of office,Governor Ikpeazu charged them to maintain peaceful coexistence and internal security in their various communities and to protect Government facilities located in their domain.

 

According to the Governor, as custodians of culture and traditions in their communities they were to serve the interest and purposes of the poor and harmless people in their areas warning against subversive acts capable of bringing the traditional institutions to ridicule and disrepute.

Governor Ikpeazu advised them to join forces with the Government to sensitize their subjects to be abreast with Covid-19 protocols pointing out that they were expected to align completely with the rules, policies and programmes of Government in order not to attract the wrath of the law.

In his speech, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Gabriel Onyendilefu said that the event was the climax of thorough selection process for traditional rulers of Autonomous Communities whose thrones were left vacant due to death of previous occupants.

He pointed out that the due process of selection was in line with the administration’s policy of transparency, reminded the traditional rulers that, as expected they were to reside within their communities and ensure sustainable peace and growth of their communities in line with extant laws of the land.

Speaking on behalf of others, the Traditional Ruler of Ahiaba-Ubi autonomous community, Isiala Ngwa North, Eze (Dr.)Okezie Amalaha thanked Governor Ikpeazu for the honour done to them by presenting them with the symbol of authority and pledged their unalloyed support to the Dr Okezie Ikpeazu led administration and to ensure that peace and tranquility reign supreme in their communities

In their separate speeches, His Royal Highness ,Eze Iroegbulam Victor Egbe of AmaekeĀ  ovim Autonomous in Isikwuato local government area of Abia ,expressed joy over his choice by his people.

” I am very happy .it is God’s plan .I thank God and I want to thank the people of Amaeke Ovim for their support I thank ourĀ  Governor ,our commissioner and all the staff of local government and chieftaincy Affairs, I thank the chairman of Eze council .I have asked God to give me wisdom to rule my people and by God’s grace I will give them the best “,

For HRH Eze Rowland Onyinyechi Alozie ,of Akanongwa Autonomous community in Ugwunagbo local government area, he said it is a new dawn in his community.

According to him ,” I have served my community in many capacities. They decided to hand over the mantle of leadership to me after the death of our late Eze .They selected me after going through the procedures and processes. I was chosen after going through the constitutional procedures and I was presented to the community .I feel so happy that my people chosen me.I am going to rule my people with fear of God and I am a very humble person and I belong to the government of the day ”

And for HRH Eze Okechukwu Ucheoma Onwuka of Umuanooma Isiaka Autonomous community in Obingwa ,he expressed his happiness, while promising to run an open government in his community,while for HRH Eze Chukwuemeka E Ezeoma of EruIgwe Autonomous community, he will rule his community with wisdom, transparency and just “.I am very happy my people selected me to serve them ”
