The New Chairman of Umuahia and District Society of the Institute of chartered Accountants of Nigeria ,(ICAN) ,Sir Michael Iro Ibeh has expressed appreciation to the Abia state government for allocating land to the District Society at Megbarakuma ,Ubakala where the secretariat Chidi Onyeukwu Ajaegbu ICAN resource center is being erected ,revealing that at the completion of the center, the Institute activities such as conduct of ICAN examination, preparatory lectures, seminars ,will be shifted there .
Sir Ibeh ,who made this known to Newsmen shortly after his investiture as the 8th District Chairman, held at Harriet Regency and Suites ,Umuahia ,appealed to the State government to please include the construction of an accessible road to the center to assist members and prospective students, who will be coming there for District functions .
He said, ICAN is ready to partner with the state government in the area of staff training and other services, even as he appealed to the government to make their movements easy by providing a bus to them.
Interacting with Newsmen shortly after delivering her valedictory speech ,the 7th chairman of the District, Mrs Rose -Mary Ngozi Amakwe ,expressed happiness for the success of her tenure ,adding that it is good to have a successor and somebody you feel will deliver ,because ,”if at my exit ,the district dies off ,that will not be good.It means I did not prepare someone to take over from me “
She used the occasion to appreciate the Abia state Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and his deputy Rt Hon.Sir Ude Oko Chukwu for their supports in bringing the ICAN resource center to the level it is presently,even as she promised to work and support her successor to ensure he succeeds .
Earlier on his opening remark, the chairman of the occasion, Sir Anselam Agonmuoh, represented by Sir Justine Nwosu ,described Sir Ibeh as a gentle man ,who is down to earth and very traditional, who takes everything, he does seriously ,adding that the Umuahia ICAN is privilege to have him as the chairman.
