The good people of Elu Elu Old Umuahia autonomous Community in Umuahia South LGA ,Abia State has honoured Hon.chief and Lolo Ifegwu Ngele Awam with a chieftaincy title “Enyi ka Nwanne I of Old Umuahia.
The ceremony which held during their 2023 Iri ji festival ( New yam) at the palace of the traditional ruler of the community HRM Eze Onuzuruike,attracted many friends and well wishers of the celebrant and his wife.
Interacting with Newsmen shortly after being conferred with the chieftaincy title,Hon.chief and Lolo Ifegwu Ngele Awam expressed appreciation to God Almighty for making the event a success as well as thanked the Eze in council of Elu Elu Old Umuahia autonomous Community,HRM Eze Onuzuruike for considering him worthy to be honoured.
According to him,” The good people of Elu Elu Old Umuahia autonomous Community honoured me because of my close relationship with them. I have been assisting and supporting some of them in my small way since I became close to the people of the community.
” I feel great about the honour bestowed on me by the people and I am glad because it is not easy. It is something worth of celebration and the way people turned out en masse to celebrate with me is very amazing. I feel so great and happy” he said.
Speaking on what the honour will spur him to do, he disclosed that it will spur him to do more for the people because he is now part of the community.
Chief Ngele Awam who is the Coordinator,in charge of Peaceland college of education Enugu, Affiliate of Abia State University,Abiriba/Ohafia liaison office.
Chief Ngele Awam who represented the people of Ugwufie ward,Ndi Etiti ward as federal ward 2018-2019 as leader of the Ohafia Counselors urged the youths to imbibe the spirit of hard work, patience and honesty,added that money is not everything,hence should not be a yardstick in all things they do in life.
Answering question on the secret of his achievements in life, he explained that it is God,hard work and support from his beloved wife Lolo Adanna Ifegwu Ngele.
Addressing the gathering at the ceremony,HRM Eze Onuzuruike, expressed happiness at the turn of events in Elu Elu Old Umuahia and said he was not expecting the crowd that gathered for the 2023 new yam festival.
Eze Onuzuruike expressed gratitude to God for blessing his people and for the developments bring witnessed in the community
He pointed out that “our brother from Nkporo Hon Ifegwu Ngele was given a chieftaincy title as he has been residing in our community.
” I am very happy and our people are also very grateful to Almighty God for His love to our people. We give God the glory”
