…In Obedience To Bishop Onaga’s Directive
Embattled Catholic Priest of Enugu Diocese and the Founder cum Spiritual Director of the Adoration Enugu, , has gone into private retreat that will terminate on June 10,2021, apparently in obedience to an earlier order of quarantine by the Catholic Bishop of Enugu last week that resulted in violent protests by the members of the ministry who were enraged when they could not ascertain the whereabout of their Spiritual Director when they had converged for their usual Wednesday E No Dey programme last Wednesday.
Fr Mbaka had reportedly been summoned by his Bishop over his scathing remarks on the Buhari presidency and,for imparting priestly benediction on the leader of IPOB,Mazi Nnamdi Kanu..
The Bishop had allegedly ordered a 30 day punitive prayer programme during which the priest would remain incommunicado.
In obedience the order,Fr Mbaka had embarked on the programme but had reportedly implored the Bishop for an opportunity to address his followers who had gathered for their weekly programme or for another priest to.do that in his stead, as the congregation was like sheep without a shepherd.
Unfortunately the Bishop refused to oblige him the request and later culminated in a communication gap which prompted the adorers to go in search of their missing Director.
The adorers had headed to the Bishop’s court at Independemce Layout and its annex at the Holy Ghost Cathedral where church property were destroyed by the irate mob.
The protests perhaps caused the early release of Fr Mbaka who later met and addressed his followers and prayed for them.
The Bishop had consequently ordered a weeklong programme of reparation and atoned for the destruction of property and desecration of holy places by the protesters penultimate Wednesday.
Fr Mbaka had since asked for forgiveness from the mother church and his bishop, and condemned the destruction blame the incident on the devil.
According to release from.the ministry all activities at the adoration centre will remain on hold all through the period of his retreat while he enjoined the adorers to remain in prayer as they used to do during the general break.
As always,Roma locuta, causa finito; the church has the final say because the power of a catholic priest is vested in unalloyed obedience to the local ordinary and by extension, the mother church.
Our Spiritual Director, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka wishes to inform his beloved adorers that he has embarked on a private prayer retreat that will end on 10th June 2021. Consequently, no ministry activities shall be held in the ministry ground pending his return. He directs that members of the ministry are to observe this period of his retreat as they used to do during the usual January breaks of the ministry, by praying at their homes, being charitable and fasting according to their ability.
Adoration! Holy Spirit is our Power.
