The traditional Ruler of Umuhu Ezechi autonomous Community in Bende LGA,Abia State,the Ezechiebulu 11th,HRM Eze Very Revd. Ambassador Chigaemezu Onwuchekwa has disclosed that it is the duty and responsibility of every traditional ruler of a Community to ensure there is peace,unity, progress and development in his Community.
Interacting with Newsmen shortly after the inauguration of 17 LGA Chairmen of Traditional Rulers Council and their Secretaries by Governor Alex Otti,held at the Abia ministry of Culture and Chieftaincy Affairs , Ogurube layout Secretariat Umuahia, he explained that a traditional ruler is expected to support the State government by making sure that he maintains peace in his Community and to expect Governor Alex Otti to come and bring peace in his Community.
He frowned at those traditional rulers who allow their evils to thrive in their Communities, said such traditional rulers were not playing their roles as the leaders of their various communities.
He pointed out that the government of Abia State led by Governor Alex Otti has good plans for the people of Abia and urged the traditional rulers, especially those that were sworn in as the chairmen of LGA traditional rulers council, to represent the Governor in their Communities to ensure there is peace, safety of lives and property in their area of jurisdictions.
” It is bad and abnormal for a traditional ruler to be around and watch evils, stealing,armed robbery to thrive in his Community and keeps quiet , expecting Governor Alex Otti to leave Government House Umuahia and come to that Community to stop the evil going on in such Community.
” It is the duty and responsibility of the traditional ruler to ensure the right things are done in his Community, that is the way to support and help the State government” he said
