The Abia State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps- CC Chukwuemeka N. Odimba, FCIA, KSM, JP has charged personnel to redouble their efforts in the areas of surveillance, intelligence gathering and sharing on real time and general operations to surpass the successes so far recorded in different areas of the Corps’ mandates.

The State Commandant handed down the charge to personnel of the Corps on Wednesday, 5th August, 2026 when he flagged off the distribution of the 2nd batch of some newly acquired high -tech equipment at the Command headquarters in Umuahia.
Commandant Chukwuemeka said ” just few days ago, you all participated in the State government sponsored “5 Days Strategic Capacity Building Workshop on technological advancement in security management. Today, we have taken a step further to fully equip you to effectively deliver on the Corps’ mandates through the distribution of these high- tech crime fighting equipment ”
While congratulating the beneficiaries of the items, the State Commandant Said “ remember, these equipment are basically to enhance your operations. The present leadership of the Corps has been quite intentional in your capacity development. You have no excuse not to deliver.”
He appreciated the Commandant General- Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR for his keen interest in revolutionizing the Corps through strategic capacity building workshops/ trainings, providing relevant modern high- tech crime fighting equipment and functional personnel welfare Programme. He assured that appropriate measures have been put in place to ensure that the equipment are not only properly deployed but also are closely monitored. This , according to the Commandant was to ensure that every part of the State was adequately captured so that the huge government resources with which these items were procured will be justified and the dream behind the digital shift realized.

Please, recall that from the day he assumed duty in March, 2026, Commandant Chukwuemeka did not hide his position on personnel training and retraining of personnel as being key factor in raising the performance index of the Corps in the State.
He reiterated his firm believe on “preventive security” adding that the equipment so distributed will help in no mean measure to realize this objective.
It is pertinent to state that the just concluded Strategic Capacity Building Workshop is the sixth (6) in the lined up of Programme to enhance operations of Personnel of the Corps in Abia State.

It is highly expected that the impacts of these huge investments in human capacity development, logistics and equipment in the Corps will be significantly felt in the State especially in the areas of improvement in security of lives and property of residents.
