Drama As Police Invades Actors Guild Of Nigeria’s End Of The Year Get Together

It was like a drama or call it Nollywood make- believe acted at Margret Schools Hall Azikiwe road, Umuahia, as about 8 police officers invaded the premises of Auditorium located at Azikiwe road, Umuahia on Thursday, 19th December, 2024 with the intention of whisking away the EXCO of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Abia State led by David Onyebuchi Amalaha.

It was around 5 pm , when the ceremony was about coming to an end, shortly after Governor Alex Otti’s representative J Martins had addressed the group and left the venue of the event that a team of police men led by a young lady came into the premises demanded the arrest of the entire EXCO members.

However, the entire members and their legal Adviser who fortunately was at the ceremony resisted and refused to allow police whisk away the EXCO members.

Initially, I was thinking it was a Nollywood movie scene scripted and produced to entertain the guests at the end of the year get together and members of the public, until the strife became much that it dawned on me that it was not a make- believe.

At this point, I went straight to the young woman who led the team of the police officers to the premises, she introduced herself as Dr Doris Ogala, a special Adviser to the National President of Actors Guild of Nigeria,Chief Ejezie E Rollas.

In her words, ” I came here on the instructions of the National President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Chief Ejezie E Rollas, he is not part of what they are doing here today.

” What they are doing here is an illegal gathering, they are using the name of the national President to collect money from people. He doesn’t recognize this group, I have a written petition which I want to use to execute this arrest” she said.

Meanwhile, David Onyebuchi Amalaha and the members of Actors Guild of Nigeria Abia State, were busy rounding up their end of the year get together.

Interacting with one of the leaders who spoke on the condition of anonymity, explained that,”Our State Chairman David Onyebuchi Amalaha contested election and was duely elected by members and he has been performing his duties.

” Doris Ogala was a former Acting chairman of the Guild before the election, she didn’t contest for the election and after the election, she started dragging the position of the chairmanship with the elected chairman”

It was gathered that the issue is already in the court of law, meaning that it is not a new Nollywood Drama after all.
