Chief Eric Opah vows to bring in innovations and transparency into NANFCOS *As he is inducted member Board of Trustees

Chief Eric Chinemeucheya Opah has been inducted a member board of trustees of the National Apex of Nigerian Farmers Cooperative Societies (NANFACOS) to represent Abia state at the federal level, and he promised to bring in innovations and transparency into how farmers are being treated in Abia state and Nigeria in general.

Chief Opah who is the chief of Executive officer Fortune Global shipping and logistics company made this promise during his acceptance speech shortly after his induction, lamented the level of sufferings farmers pass through to access funding ,added that farmers do not receive their loans because funding that comes from agricultural loan goes to private pockets .

He however, pledged that during his tenure in the next four years,he would ensure that loans that are allocated to farmers will get to them as well as to see that agriculture produce go for export.

In his words,” I accept this position to bring level of innovations into how farmers are being treated,most especially my representation will bring transparency.

” Farmers do not receive their loans and funding that comes from agricultural loan goes to private pockets, during my tenure in the next four years as long as I am involved,I will ensure that loans that are allocated to farmers will get to farmers”

He revealed that most of crops are not exported for foreign exchange because the agriculture value chain has not been enhanced and expressed optimism that his getting involved into agriculture value chain will help to reverse the status quo while described agriculture as an area of Nigeria economy that will take us to the next level .

His words,” My representation will ensure that the agriculture produce that is produce, especially from Abia state and Nigeria in general is processed,preserved and exported so that we can earn foreign exchange through agriculture.

” This representation is dedicated to you and I will ensure that every thing that will be required as a community, local government,State and Nigeria that we will work together to ensure the benefit to all “

Continuing, he stated that he will continue to encourage as well as support the community and agriculture pointed out that agriculture is the next oil in Nigeria.

In his speech, the Governor of Abia state Dr Okezie Ikpeazu said his administration will partner with him to ensure that funds meant for farmers wmget to them,added that Abia state government will give him all the necessary supports and tools to enable him functions very effectively in the discharge of his duties

Governor Ikpeazu who was represented by the Abia state commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs,Rt Hon. Christopher Enweremadu described Chief Eric Chinemeucheya Opah as a worthy ambassador and expressed confidence in his capacity to deliver on the task ahead.

Ikpeazu said agriculture represent the only way out of economic crunch in Nigeria and urged Nigerians to get fully involved in agriculture and farming activities.

In his speech His Eminence Eze Joseph Nwabekee the chairman Abia state traditional rulers council while inaugurating the Abia State officials of NANFCOS, commended those who nominated Chief Eric Opah to represent Abia state , said he will not disappoint them.

He said Eric Opah has done so many things to his people and not in doubt that he will perform well

He charged the inaugurated executive members to face the task with responsibility.

Earlier on his speech the National chairman of National Apex of Nigerian Farmers Cooperative societies (NANFCOS) Hon.chief Nwogwugwu Uzoma said NANFCOS as a new development in Nigeria has been advised to establish management structure for an efficient running of her administration that has called for 2 men State Directors to manage the state affairs,one man board of trustee for each state ,on national representation which among all chief Eric Chinemeucheya Opah was found credible and able via his good track record, and today has been appointed to represent Abia state to see that Abia state’s right and needs shall be considered

chief Nwogwugwu Uzoma said chief Eric Opah will bring his wealth of experiences in Agriculture which shall be beneficial to farmers in Abia.
