Charge Only 30% Of School Fees In This Third Term ,Abia Govt Asks Proprietors of Private schools In The State
The Abia state government has asked proprietors of private schools in State to charge only thirty percent (30%) of School Fees this third term ,saying when the first term starts they can then charge their normal school fees.
The Abia state commissioner for education, Professor Kanelechi Nwangwa ,disclosed this during A 2-Day training workshop on covid-19 preventive measures and protocols in preparedness for post covid-19 school reopening organized by Universal Basic Education Board and Secondary Education Management Board ,held at Ibeku high school ,Umuahia
Professor Nwangwa asked proprietors of private schools in the state to ensure that they obey Abia state government directives and charge only thirty percent (30%) of school fees this third term ,which will last for little time ,adding that 30% will help them do the little time they will use to conduct examination,advising that when they start first term ,they can then charge their normal school fees ,noting that it is for parents to be able to afford the third and first term fees which almost come the same time.
He said on the issue of covid-19 and school reopening, ” we experimented with the exit classes ,we provided things for them against covid-19 and at the end of the day ,we succeeded and we did not have any casualty ,we are confident that if we maintain what we already have ,there will not be problem.
According to him ,some people are thinking of mass promotion ,and we say no to mass promotion ,so that when they go into the new classes ,they know it is because they work hard “
Addressing Newsmen ,the Executive Chairman of Abia state universal Basic education Board ,Elder Josiah Anonaba said the essence of the training workshop is to properly equip teachers to manage students and the school system ,adding that ” the workshop is for preparation and to reinforce what we have done before “
