Bring Back The Glory Of Medical Profession ,Stakeholders Tell NMA

Finally the Physician’s week 2019 of the Nigerian Medical Association has come to a successful end,with the award of recognition given to many outstanding members and stakeholders.
The highpoint of this 2019 physician’s week was the launching of the NMA secretariat project with many stakeholders applauding the present NMA Executives led by Dr Mrs Carol Iwuoha for their Sterling performance and visionary leadership.
Addressing Newsmen ,a past State chairman of NMA and honoured member, Dr Dennis Orji ,has this to say ,” I am glad that the current administration of NMA has successfully conducted this year’s physician’s week .The Executives have worked very hard and have certainly achieved the objectives of NMA. The highpoint being the launching of the State secretariat ,a project that has been on going for so many donkey years and this is the first time a launching is being undertaken ,now it is a take off of the project ,so it is already a great success. We congratulate the Excos ,they have worked very hard and we are proud of them.We enjoin the next administration to ensure that this is a continuum ,so that there is no locuna whatsoever and they should be ready to work harder to surpass the achievement of this administration ” he said
In his speech, one of the honoured members ,the Medical Director Living Word Mission hospital and vice president Living Word ministry Aba ,Dr Jude Ehiemere , expressed joy over the recognition to him by NMA ,saying it means that people are seeing what you are doing .
According to him, ” it makes me look back and thank God for ever making me to do what I am doing and its a time for me to reflect .I am so grateful to so many consultants that have come across Living Word hospital ,who have contributed in one way or the other “
He noted that the present leadership of NMA is working very hard and pray that God should continue to give them strength.
Reacting to the launching of the Health and Social Insurance scheme by Governor Ikpeazu ,he described it as the only way out to going forward ,” Health Insurance scheme is the only way out to going forward .I want to encourage every body ,the civil servants, privately employed, traders Union, town unions ,all should be involved. I call on them to key in the policy to enhance sustainability of the scheme “
Addressing  newsmen,Architect Iwuoha ,who is the man behind the NMA chairman, noted that NMA has been very helpful and corporative with their activities,because they see it that they have somebody that can pilot the association the way it seems good by the majority of the people, based on that their activities have been very wonderful.
He applauded the present leadership of NMA, noting  ” that from what happened here today ,they have achieved a feat by acquiring space for their secretariat and kick starting the project”
Architect Iwuoha called for a strong synergy between the NMA and the government at all levels to provide quality health care delivery to Nigerians .
Addressing Newsmen at the end of the Physician’s week 2019 and award ceremony ,held at Villa Roy hotel  ,the chairman of Nigerian Medical Association Abia state, Dr (Mrs) Carol Iwuoha ,disclosed that NMA have had a week long of activities .” It has been a hectic week marking our Physician’s week 2019 .We have a very symbolic one .We want to thank God for the success of all the programs .They went the way we planned them ,if God did not bless our efforts ,we would have not been able to achieve what we set out  to achieve .So we are grateful to God”
Speaking further ,she pointed out that they were able to make much impact to people in the society ,by getting them know about their health status ,which before now they did not know. ” we were able to reach out to several groups ,we have activities for students ,young doctors ,we consider this meeting a success. We were able to unveil our project ,which is one of the agenda of this Executive “
Dr Iwuoha described the secretariat project as one thing that has been in the NMA members heart ,saying several leaders have been on it trying to get a space for a development , “so I see it as a challenge to doctors now that we have a place to develop it and I believe that with the support of friends of doctors and patients we have impacted so much on ,the government and our members ,we will be able to realize it “
She stated that during the week activities, the NMA as part of their corporate social responsibilities, organized breast cancer screening at Aba and got some positive cases of breast cancer,pointing out this underscores the need for screening.
According to the NMA Boss ,” we reached out to police officers for noncommunicable diseases screening and they were successfully screened and treated “
The NMA Boss expressed appreciation to the Abia state Governor ,Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for sending a representative to the opening ceremony, and the wife of the Governor for her support and  ” we are grateful very much to our elders and members of this association for taking the event very seriously and giving it their best ” even as she revealed that  “the NMA members should be expecting more connects with international programs ,organizations ,opportunities to be trained in programs that are available, mentorship programs to better their work and more collaborations and privileges to help better our patients ” she said
Earlier on ,the chairman of the occasion ,Professor Chucks Kamanu ,said ,” We are here to celebrate God’s faithfulness .God has been good to us when you look at the good things He has been doing to us .We have come to celebrate grace and goodness of God and its a time to reflect and think about the future of NMA “
He applauded the present NMA leadership for being visionary and exhibiting ” sterling performance and we will not take any less in future”
He charged the NMA  to bring back the glory of medical profession ,saying  it is a challenge before them,adding that ” the future of NMA is a responsibility of you and I  to leave legacies for the future members “
” I want to call on our members ,can we begin to raise world class medical doctors in Abia .I challenge us to do that ,we owe it as a duty to produce quality doctors ” he said
Professor Kamanu, harped on the need for  NMA members to ensure they take care of their own health and that of their family members. ” We must take care of our health. I commend the government of the state for bringing into fore the health insurance and social scheme “
The weeklong event with the theme “Care of The Unknown Patients” was celebrated by all the doctors in Abia state and the major health sector stakeholders ,in commemoration of the Physician’s week
