After 196 days of being on industrial action, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, is set to continue its lingering strike that has paralysed public universities in the country.
This decision was arrived at after a heated and stormy National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the union in Abuja.
The action of the nation’s public university lecturers’ union dashes the hopes of many, including parents, who had expressed optimism while the NEC was meeting.
The meeting, which began late Sunday at the University of Abuja’s headquarters of ASUU, ended early Monday morning, with the resolution that the strike be rolled over.
