The Acting Executive Chairman of Abia state universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) ,Elder Josiah Okechukwu Anonaba, has tasked the local government Education Secretaries to try and provide the immediate need of the Basic Education, which is the provision of a database for every local government basic Education Authority .
Addressing the different Local Government Education Authorities,(LGEAs) during a -day workshop with them at the Acting Executive chairman ‘s office ,at Ogurube secretariat layout, Umuahia, Elder Anonaba, pointed out that data is the primary decision making for every organization, saying if you do not have an accessible database, you will not be taken seriously on any important decision making.
Elder Anonaba, charged the Education Secretaries in each Local government to provide, an ICT officer, a Statistician officer and one Education Management Information system officer,who will be mandated to form LGEA Database group.
The ASUBEB Boss, maintained that each LGEA will be having a bench mark database, which is something to be referred to for information and data collection.
According to him, “we want to return the integrity and sanctity of the financial management in the system, the discrepancies and inconsistency have to stop”
He disclosed that, the leadership of an organization is very fundamental in carrying out its vision, noting that there is no reliable database that can be consulted and if, “we allow it, it means we are not committed, hence every LGEA must have a laptop, which should be coded “
In his speech, the Education Secretary, Umuahia North, Hon. Onyeoziri Clement, described the Acting Executive chairman, as a visionary leader, who is very focused, adding that he has a dream .
He hinted that the his greatest joy is that teachers salaries are paid, saying the Governor has come to work and Abians will have a course to rejoice.
In his speech, the chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of Private schools (NAPPS) ,Pastor Okowu Joseph, said from his observations ,God is doing something wonderful in Abia state.
He commended the Acting Executive chairman of ASUBEB ,Elder Anonaba, saying that he is ready to bring solution to all the lingering problems of lack of Basic Education database for Abia state,even as he applauded him for the synergies that now exist between the private schools and the government schools.
