Adopt Modern Farming Method As A Panacea For Open Grazing …Ex.Chief Of Army Staff

The former Nigeria chief of Army staff ,Lt General Azubuike Onyeabor Ihejirika has called on government at all level in Nigeria to think of modern farming methods of rearing animals, especially cows ,suggesting that it is the approach that will solve the issue of herdsmen and farmers clash in Nigeria and the problems associated with it.

Ihejirika, who made this call shortly after the end of the Abia security summit ,held in Umuahia, said even herding is no longer profitable to the herdsmen ,hence advised government to embrace modern system of rearing cows.

He pointed out that the issue of herdsmen and farmers clashes were not there before as it is today ,hence modern system should be the best approach and as a panacea to end open grazing in Nigeria.

Speaking further on the just concluded security summit, he disclosed that the best approach is for Abians to be proactive, saying that some insecurity problems are easily manage ,but the issue of terrorism is like cancer

He however, commended highly all the participants at the summit and the initiator of the summit towards finding a lasting solution to insecurity

He noted that the synergy between all the security stakeholders as what happened in Abia security summit, with many retired personnel of Abia origin, irrespective of party affiliation coming together to find lasting solution is the best approach.

Speaking further while handing over the summit resolutions to Abia state government represented by the deputy government Rt .Hon. Ude Okochukwu ,he noted optimistically that ,” I believe that the government will find the resolutions from this security summit useful and utilize them.

In his response ,after receiving the resolutions, the Abia state Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu assured that the resolutions will be implemented

The Governor who was represented by the deputy governor expressed appreciation to the chairman and the participants for their sacrifice, commitment and patriotism and for show of love to the state to ensure that Abia will remain safe .

His , ” I want to assure that the resolutions we will implement virtually everything that you have resolved here “

While declaring the summit closed ,he urged them to be ready to answer the government any time the government needs them.
