The Focal Person, Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) Abia State, Mr. Endi Ezengwa, has vehemently canvassed for enlongation of YESSO programme in the state.
Mr Ezengwa who also is Director- General of Education For Employment Agency made this known when received in audience the World Bank Team from Abuja, the (Payment Service Provider) PSP, at his office in Umuahia.
The State Focal Person of YESSO, observed that Abia keyed late into the project and passionately appealed for enlongation of the programme in the state.
He reiterated stopping the programme in few months time or mid way, may not truly transform the lives of it’s beneficiaries, which was the implicit target of the programme.
Continuing, he said the state Government under the leadership of Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D, would earnestly long to have YESSO programme extended in the state, so that Abia Youths would derive maximum impact from YESSO programme.
Earlier in his speech, the Head Abia YESSO PWF, Mr Friday Nwalozie said that Abia YESSO PWF is really trying its best in achieving its primary aims in the 6 pilot LGAs of the State. He made it clear that most of the challenges faced initially as regards payment of stipends to the 3863 Beneficiaries were now settled and that the Beneficiaries have received their payment up to date.
The world Bank Team led by Mr Abdusalam Shola in his remark appreciated the diligence and tenacity of purpose of Abia YESSO and stressed that their aim of visit is to interact with the Public Workfare (PWF) to know areas of challenges and difficulties and seek ways forward and as well meet with the Beneficiaries in their respective Project Sites in the chosen Local Government Areas.
As part of the visit, the World Bank Team in the company of the PWF Staff visited one of the Project Sites at Isialangwa South LGA- Umuakoma Umueze Community School where they found the Beneficiaries discharging their duties diligently. Mr Shola appreciated and encouraged them and urged them never to relent in their assigned duties as they receive their salaries regularly.
The Beneficiary expressed joy and prayed for the well being of the Governor for the life uplifting Project he brought to them and youths in other LGAs.
