Abia State House of Assembly holds special session to mark the official launching of Universal Health Insurance Scheme in the state….
Resolves to appreciate the government of the United States for their unflinching efforts to extend and render universal health coverage to the state.
The Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji in his speech pledges support for the program and said that the initiative fall in line with the blueprint of the 7th House on health, while further enjoining Abians to leverage on provisions of the program and access quality healthcare.
The essence of the program is to ensure healthcare is made available to the poor and less privileged members of the society. Emphasis of the health insurance scheme is on poverty alleviation and economic growth.
Chairman House committee on health and member representing Ikwuano constituency, Hon. Stanley Nwabuisi said that the House would do everything possible to make the program a huge success, this according to him, will include upgrading health facilities in the state to accommodate the initiative.
Highlights of the session include confirmation of Dr Aham Uko and 21 others as Commissioners in the Abia State Executive Council.
