Abia state government is committed to looking into the challenges being faced by the Nigerian Legion Abia state chapter, promised to   interfere with the state chairman of the Nigeria Legion  to ensure that the government brings solutions to their requests.


Addressing the Abia state chapter of the Nigerian Legion ,at Michael Okpara Auditorium, during the launching of the 2020  Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem Appeal ,Governor Ikpeazu, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, his Excellency, Rt  Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, said the Ex soldiers deserve honour for the sacrifices they made in defense of the Nation,said their achievements in Abia state can not be overemphasized.
Governor Ikpeazu, described Abia state as a security conscious state, added that the government will continue to partner with the Nigerian Legion and other security agencies in the area of security.
In her speech, the Abia state  commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief (Mrs)  Ukachi  Amala, said “the Emblem Launch is part of Armed Forces Remembrance Celebration usually organize on the 15th January of every Year in Nigeria to commemorate and appreciate the Supreme sacrifice of our heroes in the service of our Nation as a sovereign and indivisible entity by the Armed Forces “
She said, ” our country ‘s security has often been threatened from within and outside the shores of our boundary and in each occasion, our defiant and patriotic military have exhibited high sense of defense, leading to loss of their lives and properties’ “
According to her, ” The families of the Slain soldiers suddenly find themselves in a state of helplessness, hopeless and financial embrassment, following the death of their  breadwinners ,in extreme case their children are thrown out of school and /or trade vocation due to their inability to sustain heart attacks and consequential death of the parents and widows / widowers of the dead  soldiers on hearing the news of the death of their husbands /wives and loved ones “
She maintained that the wife of Abia state Government ,through the ministry of women Affairs, is committed to  assisting the Nigerian Legion Abia state.
