Abia State Government Congratulates New EXCO of OMPAN tasks them on development journalism


Abia State government has congratulated the new executive officials of the Abia State Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) with a charge to go for development journalism which is armed at becoming partners in progress with Abia State government and other development agencies in the state.

The Abia Commissioner for information and strategy,Dr Eze Chikamnayo who gave this charge while interacting with the new executive members of Abia State OMPAN during a courtesy visit in his office at Ogurube layout Umuahia,Abia State capital,urged journalists to facilitate issues in the interest of fighting for everyone and become catalyst for positive development.

In his words,” A Journalist is like a catalyst that supposed to facilitate in the interest of fighting for the good of everyone including the common man.

” So, I want you people to become catalyst for positive development .

” Let your actions at all times be anabolic and not catabolic aimed at building up and not at tearing down.

” What makes you a good Journalist is not the capacity to go and look for trouble,but your capacity to facilitate growth in the socity where your belong .

Speaking further he pointed out that reciprocity will form the basis of relationship between Abia State government and OMPAN while urging the association to go for a symbiotic relationship which will facilitate development in the state.

He described Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as a lover of journalism, saying that no governor in Nigeria today has given the press unfiltered atmosphere to practice more than the Abia State Governor.

Earlier in his speech,the leader of the new executive officials and chairman of Abia State OMPAN,Comrade Paddy Anyantonwu expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for the audience given to the new EXCO noting that OMPAN members will not relent in their efforts to synergize with Abia State government in the development and progress of the state,adding that they will ensure professionalism in carrying out their duties .
