The Abia state Commissioner for Youth Development, Barrister Charles Esonu has interfaced with the youth associations in Abia for them to make inputs that will help all stakeholders in the ministry to succeed .
Addressing Newsmen at Umuahia township stadium, shortly after interacting and having association with Abia youths , the Commissioner noted that without the youths , the ministry is nothing.
He pointed out that the youths are the nucleus of the ministry ,hence he decided to start with them for them to bring out ideas that will be fruitful ,which will help to move the ministry forward.
He promised to run the ministry with every bit of honesty and transparency,adding that every idea they have presented will not go unused .
According to him , ” I thank God that I had this meeting and every thing they suggested today ,I will bring them together to make sure that we succeed “
He urged all youth associations to register with the ministry of youth and development , saying that ” we will not look at the paucity of fund ,we must succeed “
” It is very important that we try and register our associations ,if I have proposals ,I will start with those that have registered and we must succeed”
He further revealed that,” I will also convey similar meetings in batches ,so subsequently we will hold meeting with the community youth leaders , youths of churches and every department where we have youths ,we want to bring them on board
” So most of the issues that they rolled out ,I will put them together and they will form some kind of road map , when I go to the State Executive council meeting ,I will discuss them and make sure that they all comply and conform with budget that we have to succeed”
He urged the youths to shun all vices ,all criminal activities, be focused and come turn to God and He will give them wisdom to move away crimes ,adding that crimes have consequences, even as he promised to seek for interventions and dialogue with the state administration to make that those youths who had been trained will be empowered
In their separate speeches, many of the youths commended the Commissioner for organizing such stakeholders’ meeting, urging him to make it a regular gathering to enable them brainstorm and move the ministry forward.
In his Contribution,the Abia state chairman National Youths association ,comrade Smith Sylvanus, said that ,” we have already started partnering with the new Commissioner and we have assured him of our support.
