The Federal Road Safety Corps has disclosed that according to the World Health Organization Disaster Report that about 1.3 million people die globally annually due to road crashes and if something is not done by the year 2020 ,which is barely one month left, the people dying through road crashes will rise to 1.9 million world wide.
This was made known by the Abia state Sector Commander FRSC, while interacting with Newsmen at his office in Umuahia ,Abia state, said , out of this statistics ,90 percent of the people dying are from Africa. Nigeria is Africa ,Abia state is Africa .
According to him, ” we need to widen our level of traffic literate and imbibe safety culture. We need to understand the consequences of death through road crashes. Of course, people die through different causes, it could be natural disasters ,it could be illness ,but the sudden death through road crashes is very devastating. Bread winners die, children drop out from school” he said
