ABIA’S NEW CHAPTER: NO GOING BACK!

‘If God’s Own People Didn’t Go Back To Egypt, God’s Own State Won’t – Ctz. U. N. UKOHA.

Governor Otti’s impactful governance is shaking things up. Abians are buzzing with excitement over the standout performance of Governor Otti’s less than 3 years transformative leadership, but those who perpetrated and benefited from Abia’s 24 years stagnation aren’t enjoying or loving the progress.

The dethroned architect of the OLD ABIA has been smoked out from his hiding temple of darkness. The awakening and lightning strikes across Abia State by the architect of the NEW ABIA has shaken and unsettled the foundation of the entrenched interest and oppressors. Abia was never short of resources for 24 years, but governance was the missing piece.

Abia State was not created in 2023. Abia has never received less or more of its due from the Federal Allocation since the return to democracy in 1999 but it has remained either in obscurity or in the news for the wrong reasons. For 24 years, Abia was the dirt capital of Nigeria with Aba, the Enyimba City monopolizing the trophy as the dirtiest city until the emergence of Governor Alex Chioma Otti whose detail-driven approach has restored sanity and transformed Aba and the entire State to sparkling clean environments, away from smelling the heaps of dirt. Now, streets are clean, Aba is transformed, and the State’s National and Global image is shifting.

THE FIEFDOM KING’S U-TURN

The fiefdom king’s new line, ‘I WILL WORK FOR MY PARTY’ raises eyebrow. Is it an indirect admission that he worked against his party’s candidates in the last general election except himself. If he is such a loyal party man with control over his polling unit/ward in Igbere like he claims, why did all his party’s candidates including the current President, lost in his own polling unit/ward and backyard except him? Why did the fiefdom king abandon his party’s gubernatorial candidate to support and work for his younger brother in another party? Is the new line, ‘I will work for my party’ a damage control move, a mischievous deception to outwit his party’s hierarchy or a genuine change of heart? The people are watching; actions speak louder than words.

VOODOO ECONOMICS ON DISPLAY.

Enemies of Abia’s progress are regrouping and resorting to twisted economics in their attempts to discredit Governor Otti’s soaring performance. How can the champion of the OLD ABIA see anything good that Governor Otti is doing? Abians, including the media people who interviewed Senator Orji Uzor Kalu yesterday got exactly what they expected from a man who compares apples with oranges. He did not disappoint when he measured the value of money by quantity, not purchasing power in his laughable and desperate attempt to justify his failed 8 years as the State Chief Executive including the extra years as a monsterous godfather to his successor.

In Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s masterclass in twisted economics, and struggle to fit a square peg into a round hole, he ignored the effects of inflation, exchange rate regime, and cost of living in a consumer oriented economy that is grossly dependent on imports.

If Senator Kalu is an honest analyst with no intent for mischief, he should have started by pointing out and comparing his imaginary achievements with those that came before him. If I decide to play Senator Kalu’s game, I will point at what Ex-Governor Sam Mbakwe who governed almost 3 States combined and achieved so much within 4 years with resources far ‘less’ than what Senator Kalu received in 4 months. The footprints and achievements of Ex-Governor Mbakwe are still visible and standing across the 3 States of Imo, Abia and Part of Ebonyi while Senator Kalu’s few sub-standard ‘Dubai’ road projects washed off like dyed textile (Baji-Baji) done in Aba river, a standard he has maintained even till date as the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial Zone. I challenge Senator Kalu to reconvene the press and name his legacies as Governor or point at them rather than making vague claims.

The data is an open secret. In 1999 when Senator Kalu emerged as the Governor of Abia State, fuel pump price was N20 (Twenty Naira) per litre, Exchange rate was between N80 – N91, Minimum Wage was N3,000, the price of cement was N500 and the annual inflation rate was 6.62% while August 1999 was -3.51% (Deflation). The Abia workforce was less than a third of what it is today. What Governor Otti pays as monthly salary today is more than what Senator Orji Uzor Kalu paid as total wage bill in his first 4 years as Governor. The backlogs of Abia workers gratuity which Governor Otti inherited were left-overs by Senator Kalu from 2001 when he was the Executive Governor.

On Senator Kalu’s claims that Governor Otti is repainting the Roads he built as Governor. Nothing can expose his lies to the JenZee who didn’t witness his deceptive misrule than this obvious falsehood. Who both living or dead can collaborate Senator Orji’s claim that he built Port-Harcourt Road and Governor Otti repainted it, Ohanku Road, Omuma Road, Umuahia – Abiriba – Ohafia – Arochukwu Road, Omenuko Bridge, Ozu Abam – Ndi Okereke – Arochukwu Road, Ovom Erosion, Obohia Road, Osisioma – Ekeakpara Road, Owerrinta – Umuekea dualisation, Onuimo – Tower dualisation, Expansion of Aguiyi Ironsi Boulavard, Expansion of Library Avenue, Umuahia – Ikot Ekpene Road, Expansion of cooperative, Umuahia, including the over 600km of Roads constructed, rehabilitated and reconstructed across the 17 Local Government Areas.

Senator Kalu’s younger brother and APC gubernatorial aspirant was also on the news, criticizing Governor Otti for operating the Government business from his private home. What Mr. Mascot Uzor Kalu refused to disclose is that he was the Chief of Staff to Ex-Governor T. A. Orji and ran the business of Government from a shanty called Government House which Governor Otti is currently rebuilding, starting with the Office of the Secretary to the State Government which has been completed and functionalized, the Government House Clinic and presently building a befitting Governor’s Office and Lodge where proper business of Government will be conducted effectively than a makeshift shanty where skeletal business of Government took place while serious Government business took place in Igbere and Nweke street.

Finally, in party politics, it is traditional to support your party and her candidates in an election without noise or photo ops. The resort to public display and press briefing to announce that you will support your party is suspect or a ploy to distract the Government. Hear this and know peace, the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, cannot be distracted.
