Abia State To Open Adult Education Centers In All The Major Markets in the State

Abia state government has disclosed its readiness to open Adults Education Centers in all the major markets in Abia state ,saying the present government led by Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has determination to reduce illiteracy and out of school children rates to the barest minimum.
The Executive Director ,Abia state Agency for Mass Literacy ,Adult and Non – Formal Education, Chief Godfrey Ihechinyere Akara ,who revealed this to Newsmen during the  capacity building seminar for Adult Education Facilitators and Unit heads ,held at the conference hall ,ministry of Education ,Umuahia ,said ” No person can underestimate the place ,role and relevance of training and re-training of Adult Education  Facilitators ,for successful delivery of our programmes and services ,to our Adults /Youth Learners” ,maintaining that , ” It is one of the state government ‘s efforts ,towards updating the capacity and commitment of Adult education Facilitators in the state “
Chief Akara ,revealed that Abia state has about 800 functional Adult education centers scattered across the state, while  urging Abians to take advantage of ” this window opportunity ” to acquire their education, especially all those Adults who had no opportunity to go to school.
He said the Adult Education studying is 100 percent free for all Adults who want to key in that window opportunity made available  by the state government,adding that ” there has been significant improvement on Adult Education Programmes ,since the last four years “
He said his agency has been interfacing and doing synergies with various stakeholders ,such as the leaderships  of the communities, the Women ,the youths ,the traditional rulers ,market leaders among others to increase the literacy centers in the state.
Addressing the Facilitators ,the Resource person ,Dr Chris Omoregie from university of Ibadan ,urged the Facilitators to be open to their students, to know them individually and make themselves available for their students ,saying these will enable them have more results.
Omoregie ,however called on state government to provide enabling environment for the Facilitators to operate,by making the study centers comfortable for them  to teach the students,adding that the capacity building seminar will make the Facilitators to have more results.
